Student Support & Programs
The department of Diversity and Multicultural Student Services (DMSS) serves and empowers student populations whose success, retention, academic success, and graduation are most challenged by socio-historical factors and contemporary inequities.
Through Multicultural Retention Services, TRIO Student Support Services, and Pre-College programs, students are given holistic, wrap-around advising. The Cultural Resource Centers (Multicultural Student Center, Pan-African Commons, La Casa Latina Student Center, Pacific Islander, Asian and Asian American Student Center, and Native American Student and Community Center) provide cultural and educational programming, mentoring, and student support.
Additionally, the Veterans Resource Center (VRC) serves the unique needs of vets on campus. The Disability Resource Center (DRC) works to make university life accessible to students with disabilities and identifies, evaluates, and reduces or eliminates barriers to student access and equity throughout the PSU community. Student Legal Services provides legal assistance to students for free, including: landlord tenant issues, bankruptcy, immigration and family law.
The Multicultural Retention Services is uniquely designed to enrich the experience of students looking to connect with the PSU diverse community by supporting their transition to PSU, while building a multicultural campus community that is essential to student success.
The Native American Student & Community Center (NASCC) is a gathering space to celebrate and empower student success through culturally relevant programming, academic support, and inter-generational community engagement.
The Pan-African Commons is a community space that reclaims African, Black American, Caribbean, Central/South American, and Black identities across the world. Programming and identity development aim to preserve ancestry and indigenous solidarity among Afro-descent cultures.
Student Legal Services encourages students’ full participation in their academic endeavors by helping navigate obstacles to fulfilling educational and career goals. We pursue our mission through legal advice, representation, mentorship, community partnerships and education to empower student clients.
